Stainless steel, lead, zinc and brass: what does RJMK take?

Everyone knows scrap iron and copper, but there are more metals that are worth money. Stainless steel, lead, zinc and brass are often thrown away while they have a good value. We go through them, so you know what you have lying around at home or at work.

Stainless steel

You recognise stainless steel by its shine and the fact that it does not rust. You find it in kitchen equipment, railings, worktops and industrial parts. A magnet usually barely sticks to it, which is a handy test.

Lead

Lead is heavy and soft, with a grey colour. Think of roof lead, old lead pipes and seals around chimneys. Because of its weight it adds up quickly.

Zinc

You mainly see zinc in old gutters, downpipes and roofing. It is light grey and light in weight. During a roof renovation a lot of zinc often becomes available.

Brass

Brass has a golden yellow colour and is found in taps, fittings, valves and sometimes in decorative work. It is an alloy of copper and zinc and therefore well paid.

Where is it and how do you hand it in?

During a renovation, roof work or clearing out a workshop you often come across these metals. Not sure what you have? Send a photo via WhatsApp and we tell you right away what it is and what it is worth. You can bring it to our location in Venlo or, for larger quantities, have it collected.
